Birthdays FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Booking and pricing
How much does a party cost? We're running a birthday special right now: $400 for a 2-hour party. Our regular price will be higher, so it's a lovely time to book! As part of the special there's no extra cost for more people.
How many guests can we bring? There's no extra cost for more people, and our experiences are designed for parents to play too (if they want!). About 25 people in total, kids and grown-ups, is ideal. More than 30 and the room starts to get snug. More than 40 is too many.
Do we get the whole space? Yes, the space is all yours! There are no drop-in families during your party.
How far ahead should we book? Weekend slots go quickly, so the earlier the better. Plenty of families book two or three months ahead. Spots do sometimes open up last minute, so it's always worth asking.
What happens once we've booked? We'll set up a personal Wandaful Birthday Portal for you and your child. It's where you tell us what your child loves, so we can customise the story, games, music, and food, and it keeps all the planning in one place to make things really easy for you. We can also make a Wanda World invitation for you to share with your guests.
What's included in the price? The 2-hour party, a guided experience that combines off-screen games and stories, music customised to your child, a pack of Wanda Cards for every child, photos taken by our guides, and a Wanda World invitation illustrated by our awesome artist Panda. We have a small and delicious snack menu at an additional cost, but you bring most of the food, cake, plates, napkins and cutlery.
How do we secure our date? Once you've picked a slot, you can book and hold it for 48 hours without payment. After that, you’ll need to send a 50% deposit by e-transfer to fun@wandaworld.ca and it's all yours!
Do you do sibling parties? We love them! So much, in fact, that if you're booking for more than one of your children, we'll definitely give you a discount. Just ask :)
The party itself
What happens at a Wanda World party? It's 2 hours, and it flows like this:
1. 30 minutes of welcome time, where all that birthday energy gets expressed through free play.
2. About 1 hour of guided adventure (shorter for 3 to 5 year olds), usually 5 games, each with its own Wanda World character, story and mask.
3. 30 minutes for food, cake and a bit more free play.
Everything is tied together by a Wanda World story, which gives the games context, imagination, stakes and magic. The birthday child and their friends are the heroes, and we celebrate the birthday child at the start with a little gift.
What kind of games do you play? We mix the energy up. We usually start with something fast and exciting, like Hide and See (our version of hide and seek, where the hiding time gets shorter every round!). Then we bring the energy down with a building challenge, like a spaghetti and marshmallow tower. Then something physical and silly, like a blindfolded obstacle course where the kids lead the grown-ups. And we end with something creative, like a giant collaborative monster drawing. Games are team-based, so the challenge is to finish together, not for one person to win.
How do you customise the party? In your birthday portal you tell us about your child: the games they love, their favourite music, what makes them laugh. We build the story, games and music around them, with the goal that they feel truly special on their big day. If your child has been to Wanda World before and has favourite games, we can bring those back or try something new in the same style.
What ages is it for? Our parties are for ages 3 to 11. For 3 to 5-year-olds, we ask a grown-up to play alongside each child, and we simplify everything: the story is simpler, the masks are fun and never scary, and the games are more "slightly elaborate balloon keepy-uppy" than "chess" 😊. The guided part also runs about 45 minutes, not 60.
What if we have older siblings coming too? No problem! The main experience is designed for your child and their friends, and we'll adapt so the older kids have fun too.
Do parents stay, or can we drop off? Either works! Our experiences are designed for grown-ups to play, sometimes as co-players and sometimes helping the kids complete the challenges. During the guided adventure we ask that every grown-up in the room joins in. It's not a party where parents chat on the sidelines, and that's a big part of the magic. For drop-off parties, we can invite parents to come back 15 minutes early for a special parent-child game to end the party.
Who runs the party? Our team! We take care of everything. But this is an experience for parents who really want to be actively involved in the fun. We’ll find a role that you’re comfortable with, whether that’s playing the games alongside the kids, helping the kids with the challenges, or something else that takes your fancy.
Food, cake and extras
Is food included? We offer a small and delicious menu at an additional cost. You bring most of the food and drinks, so you can bring your child's favourites! Please also bring plates, napkins and cutlery.
What about allergies? Wanda World is a nut-free space, so please make sure any food you bring is nut-free. For any other allergies, just flag them with us while we're preparing for the party and we'll plan around them.
Where do the kids eat? Right in the party space, and it's part of the experience. The kids sit on pillows around a picnic blanket, with the birthday child on a pillow throne at the head of the picnic.
Can we bring a birthday cake? Is there a fridge? Of course! Our fridge is quite little, so it isn't right for an ice cream cake. If you're bringing one, let us know and we'll make a plan with a freezer box. Regular cakes have always been totally fine without a fridge.
Are loot bags included? Yes! Every child gets a little Wanda loot bag with a pack of Wanda Cards (our trading cards), a sticker and some candy. We give them out as a reward when the kids complete their challenges. Some parents like to add to ours, some give their own, and others just let ours be the loot bag — whatever works for you. If you'd prefer to hold the candy until the end so it doesn't disrupt the food and cake, just tell us.
Can we decorate? Yes! Families have brought balloon garlands, food tables and more. Since we can't open the space early, you can drop your decorations off with us ahead of the party, and we'll put them up for you!
Do you help with invitations? We do! We'll make you a Wanda World invitation for your child, illustrated by our world-class artist and partner Panda, and your birthday portal has an RSVP link so you can see who's coming.
Logistics and policies
Where are you, and is there parking? We're at Unit 206, 28 Industrial Street, East York (Google Maps). Parking is free right in front of the building!
Can guests arrive early? Please be on time! We can't open the space early, because we often have other adventures happening right before yours :)
Do guests need to sign anything? Yes, every family signs a waiver. We'll share it with you so you can send it to your guests, and it's easiest if most are signed before the day.
Can the kids wander around the building? For safety, kids only leave the main party space with their parent. That way no one wanders off or gets lost.
Can we make the party longer? Sometimes! If there's no booking right after yours, we can add extra time at the same rate per 30 minutes as the party itself. Just ask when you book. It's a great chance for more parent-child games.
What if we need to cancel? What you've paid is fully refundable up to 45 days before your party, and 75% refundable up to 30 days before. After that it's non-refundable, because we have limited slots and we get going on the work for your child's party as soon as you book.
You're quite new. How do I know it'll be great? Come test it out at a family session, every week on a Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. Book here!
Can I talk to someone before booking? Absolutely. Email us at fun@wandaworld.ca, or give us a call on 647 240 0988 if you'd prefer to chat in person 😊
